Thai culture is deeply influenced by religion. With around 95% of the country being Theraveda Buddhist, the belief system and values of Buddhism play a huge role in day-to-day life. Thais greeting each other, showing respect, apologizing, and saying goodbye with a gesture known as the wai, without a handshake in sight.
Family almost always comes first in Thailand, its normal for extended families to live close to each other, with many Thais maintaining strong links with their home villages even if they move away for work.
It’s fairly common for children to be raised by grandparents or aunts and uncles if their parents need to work elsewhere, such is the role of extended family in everyday life. Younger members of the family are expected to help take care of older members. This can be financially, or by doing a range of chores.
The national anthem is played twice a day, with the expectation that people will stop and stand until the song has finished. The national flag is flown in many places, raised with the national anthem each morning and lowered again in the evening. Many Thais profess an enduring love for their country, extending to religion and the monarchy.

Songkran Festival Thai New Year festival or commonly known as Songkran Festival. It is a 3 days celebration that falls every 13th-15th of April.Thais celebrate Songkran by cleaning their houses, visit their families for reunion, offering food to monks, visit temples to give donations and pay respect to Buddha.Thais also do the original way of sprinkling water to one another to symbolized purification and give blessings in the New Year.
Bun Bang Fai Rocket Festival is an ancient local festival, Held in May each year. This festival which is associated with Thai traditional beliefs in the supernatural powers that help promote the production of rice crops for the coming planting season. In the rainy season, the local people believe that the god would hear the entreaties that they create a rocket or 'Bang Fai' to send to heaven, and bless them with plentiful rain for rice cultivation. The highlight of the festival is the launch time. The rockets are fired from their launch platforms one by one. Noisy folk music and cheers can be heard for each liftoff and the rocket that reaches the greatest height is declared the winner.
Loy Krathong festival
Loy kratong is the festival where people float candle-lit lanterns in the water mainly in rivers, canals, ponds and the sea on the full moon night of the 12th lunar month. In the past, lanterns were usually made of a piece of sliced banana tree trunk, which floats on the water. It was then decorated to resemble a lotus flower. Intricately folded banana leaves, in the shape of lotus petals, would be gathered around the circular edge to form the shape of an open lotus flower. Then a candle, 3 incense sticks and beautiful flowers would be put inside the lantern. Today you can find lanterns made from Styrofoam, baked flour and other materials. Among various types of lanterns, the baked flour kind has become quite popular because it also feeds the fish in the river.

Khao Yai National Park
Khao Yai, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is Thailand’s third largest, Khao Yai National Park is located in the eastern part of the country, Its spreads across four provinces namely Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Saraburi Province, Nakhon Nayok Province and Prachinburi Province. It's homes to a wide array of wildlife, including Asian elephants and black bears. The park offers observation towers, hiking trails, lodges, cabins and campsites.
Erawan Waterfalls
Founded in 1975 as Thailands 12th National Park. The major attraction of the park is Erawan Falls with emerald green ponds, named after the three-headed white elephant of Hindu mythology.
It has 7 major tiers and few smaller tiers. All tiers are accessible by a series of trails and footbridges all the way up to the 6th tier. Last tier is accessible by scrambling up to few cliffs, for those who like a bit more challenge. The total distanse from the trailhead up to the top tier is nearly 1.5 km. There are many emerald green ponds along the trails which the visitors are allowed to swim in. The ponds are full with fishes.
Phang Nga Bay
Phang Nga Bay is one of the top tourist attractions in Thailand. It consists of beautiful caves, aquatic grottoes and limestone islands. The most famous island in the bay is a sea stack called Ko Ping Kan (James Bond Island) which was featured in the James Bond movie “The Man with the Golden Gun”. A popular way of visiting Phang Nga Bay is by sea kayak as they are the only way to get inside the grottoes and sea caves.
Similan Islands
All the Islands are located in the Mu Koh Similan National Park, which covers over 140 square kilometers. Made up of nine primary islands and two far-flung ones (Total eleven islands), the Similan Islands archipelago is one of the most popular diving destinations in the country. Situated off the coast of the Phang Nga Province in southern Thailand, the waters surrounding the islands boast gorgeous coral reefs and underwater rock formations that take on many unique shapes. The largest island is Koh Similan and is probably the best place to start your adventure. All the Similan Islands are surrounded by crystal clear shallow waters that harbor excite rock formations and spectacular coral reefs.
